Footdragging harms nature reserves

SPNI says that Interior Minister, Eli Yishai, is delaying the approval of nature reserves.  Of the seventeen reserves still awaiting to be approved, eleven just need Eli Yishai’s signature.  The nature reserves that are still seeking approval are spread out throughout Israel and aim to protect important ecosystems in the region.  Kosha Pakman, the director of SPNI, wrote to the Minister of the Interior asking him to end the delays.  The planning administration at the Ministry of the Interior claims that approval of reserves is a lengthy process with many people needing to be consulted before any type of approval can be given.
