Ministerial Committee Approves Proposal to Ban Sport Hunting

Environmental Protection Minister, Amir Peretz, has succeeded in getting approval from the Ministerial Committee for Legislation to revive a ban on sport hunting and increase wildlife protection.  Peretz is also requesting that police increase their investigation efforts with regard to violent acts against wild animals.  Recently the heads of four dear and a porcupine were mounted on a major highway in the North.  SPNI regards sport hunting as “one of the most significant threats to biodiversity in the world” and that this bill is the first step to approve an important law to protect wildlife.
