Committee Postpones Approval of Hotels for Eilat’s Almog Beach

The decision to allow building of a hotel on Eilat’s Almog Beach has been put on hold.The Southern District Committee for Planning has hired a marine ecologist to analyze the plan and determine the environmental implications the hotel will have on the local reefs.  SPNI has submitted testimony from Dr. Jacob Dafni, a marine biologist, about the danger the hotel imposes on the coral reefs.  Yehuda Katav, a partner of a planning firm for the hotel has stated the environmental organizations have provided enough trouble that his company is willing to sell the land, but he remains positive that the hotel will be approved by the committee.
